CASE STUDY / Architecture

Multi-platform database architecture matched to workload.

A representative estate where different applications required different database platforms and resilience patterns rather than one standardized answer.

Challenge, approach and acceptance.

01

Context

The environment used multiple data technologies with different availability, recovery, performance and support expectations.

02

Constraint

Standardizing every workload onto one architecture would have hidden real differences in transaction behavior, recovery method, operational tooling and team skills.

03

Approach

Oracle RAC/Data Guard, SQL Server availability/log-shipping patterns, PostgreSQL replication/repmgr and Redis replication/sentinel-style operating models were treated according to each workload’s role.

04

Acceptance

The estate gained clearer architecture ownership, consistent operating controls and runbooks while preserving platform-specific HA/DR behavior where it mattered.
